There are a few tips about FROG care & fishing Id like to pass
on to you. First is the care of your FROG legs. The legs will develop a memory
according to what position you leave them in when not fishing. If you just throw the FROG
into your tackle box, the shape and position of the legs can become warped. Instead,
position the FROGs legs naturally out to the side of the body just as I have
shipped it to you. Set the FROG out on your desk with the legs out to the sides and
the feet bended forward at a 90 degree angle. Also, there are pins in the butt of your
FROG that hold the legs in position. The legs are replaceable. Always squeeze the water
out of your FROG at the end of the day before storing in a tackle box. If possible, leave
the lid open on your box so your FROG can fully dry. Its really great to have a
cubicle in your box that adjusts to the FROGs size with the legs spread out in the
fishing position.
Never leave your FROG sitting in a tackle box that is in direct sun light.
Cover the box with another box or a towel or something. Sometimes it can get so hot inside
the box that it can soften the materials, weakening your FROG.
I recommend that you use the #1 Banjo Minnow weedless hook as pictured on
my website. You can either buy their hooks only or the whole Banjo Minnow Kit
(www.banjominnowstore.com ). I designed the hook & the original minnow for which we
received a patent, but I sold out years ago and I have no association or contact
with the company. I do recommend though that you use a thicker rubber band weed guard
(Orthodontal braces). Talk to your local orthodontist. Mine sold me a lifetime supply for
a few bucks. The brand I like is Creatures of the Sea Orthodontic Elastics. The style
& size is the Manatee / Heavy 3/16 inch.
I also like the 1/0 Mustad #37140, but you must bend the hook with
needlenose pliers to insure that the hook point is below and between the stretched rubber
strands just like the Banjo Minnow hook. You use the same elastic weed guard as on the
Banjo hooks. With the Banjo or the Mustad, check that the hook point is lower than the
rubber on the topside. If not, adjust slightly with needle nose pliers to re-orient the
point a bit downward to avoid catching a snag. You can even use 1/0 or 2/0 Eagle Claw
standard Kahle hooks. With the Mustad and Eagle Claw Kahle Hooks you can usually slip the
rubber band through the crack in the hook eye. However, the Banjo Minnow Hook was designed
(by me) to be much more convenient at doing this. The 1/0 Gamakatsu 514 Shiner Hook bends
fairly easily, and it makes a great sharper hook alternative when rigged with either latex
orthodontal braces or with traditional wire weedguards. If there is no space to slip
the rubber weedguard into the eye of the hook, you can usually pry it open.
You can also use the Eagle Claw wired weedless hooks in Kahle &
standard Sproat hooks in appropriate sizes for your FROG. They are available in most
tackle shops and Barlow's Tackle online, as well as Bass Pro Shops.

I recommend that you use at least 20 lb. Power Pro braided line with at
least a 20 lb tippet mono leader on at least a medium heavy spinning rod between 6.5-7
feet in length. I often use 30 lb leaders here in Florida. I have broke twenty a few
times. Flourocarbon line will help your FROG dive more if you let it (the leader) sink.
Go get em ---- I want to see some pictures !
